This piece was commissioned as a commemorative mural to show how the town of Carnegie fought back after being devastated by the remnants of hurricane Ivan, which passed through the town in the summer of 2004 and left the whole town under 3 feet of water. The main image is of a phoenix—however instead of rising from the ashes, he is rising from the flood waters. There are other local elements added as well.
